Katarina "Kaca" Popovic received her Master in Counseling from Wayne State University and Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Michigan State University. She is also a certified teacher, specializing in history and political science, along with having taught counseling courses. Kaca has a great deal of experience facilitating teen outreach groups. She counsels adolescent and adult populations, along with providing couples and family therapy.
"I like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) because if you shift the way you think (cognition), you shift the way you feel about yourself, and in turn, shift the way you behave. It is all about a shift in thinking. Basically, cause and effect/action and reaction. It's all about a shift in thinking. I believe that attitude is everything, so one’s approach shifts as well."
Kaca’s areas of clinical interest are in depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity disorder, and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. Kaca uses the empirically validated Cognitive-Behavioral treatment modality and works within the medical model.
In addition to her role as a therapist here at RCBM, Kaca is also involved with the clinical research department.
