Prescription Refill Updates and Portal Tips

Important Information About Prescription Refills

To ensure quality medication management, it is RCBM policy that treatment plans are reviewed on a regular basis. For this reason, patients are required to be seen every three months by their prescribing clinician.

We suggest that you check your prescriptions before you accept them from your pharmacist and pay your co-pay. Make sure each prescription is the medications we prescribed. This is a very good way of avoiding medication error.

In addition:

  • Please allow 48 hours for your refill to be completed.
  • If you are wondering if your prescription was received by your pharmacy, please contact your pharmacy directly.
  • If your pharmacy is out of stock, please email the new pharmacy address and phone number to prescriptions@rcbm.net
  • Patient can transfer non-controlled medications by contacting their pharmacy. The pharmacy can directly transfer to another pharmacy.
  • Only a prescriber can make changes to current prescriptions.
  • Effective 2/21/22, we are no longer able to accept refill requests from pharmacies.

Didi Nuculaj coordinates all prescription refill requests. In this video, she discusses the process for prescriptions to be requested and refilled. Didi reminds patients that the best and most efficient way to request refills is through the patient portal. Please take time to listen to her important message so that you understand the steps involved in refilling your prescriptions.

PLEASE NOTE: Effective May 2022, we have moved our refill request process to the patient portal. You can access the portal by clicking here.

Patient Portal Troubleshooting Tips:

-Patient’s date of birth must be entered in the following format:

June 1, 1965 would be 06/01/1965

-Patient must register for the portal using the e-mail address on file

-When signing up, the patient’s name must match what RCBM has on file for the patient

-A parent can sign up for more than one account (self and child, two children, etc.) as long as they are using the email that is on file in the child/children’s charts

Important information on Vyvanse and other ADHD medication issues

Dear Patients,

As of late August 2023, Vyvanse now has a generic option on the market—called lisdexamfetamine. We have recently learned that many insurance companies immediately removed the brand name Vyvanse from their formularies, even before pharmacies have the generic version in stock. This was a premature move, which will inevitably cause many issues for patients and doctors.

This change comes amidst a national shortage of all ADHD medications. In the last several months we have needed to substitute the majority of our patients on different medications. This has created an exponential increase in the number of pre-authorizations we are managing.

We are sharing this to make you aware, and to let you know that we are working hard to determine how we can best help our patients on Vyvanse specifically, and ADHD medication in general. We appreciate your patience with our staff as we navigate these issues alongside you.

This article offers some additional information about the Vyvanse issue.
